Welcome to my new blog and very first post! Hang in there
with me, I’m new at this. (Bet you didn’t figure that one out.) It’s amazing
how a woman who loves to write books is so bamboozled about writing one tiny,
little, itty-bitty blog post. I think the whole idea has me scared stupid.
There you have it—my reason for making a mess out of this.
Since this is a new adventure, I guess I should tell you a
little bit about myself and explain how I came up with the name for my blog. I
live in Marietta, Georgia, and I love writing romantic suspense. I grew up in
St. Louis, Missouri, land of Cardinals baseball, the Arch, and Ted Drew’s
Custard. I met my soul mate at Hazelwood High when I was fifteen and we
attended school together.
We’ve been married—well let’s just say many, many years and
leave it at that. So I actually do know a few things about romance, might even
be considered an expert by some. I suppose my love/fear of suspense came as a
result of raising three daughters. Three very strong-willed daughters, but
that’s another blog.
I have been writing for about ten years now. I’ve been
tossing around ideas for a blog name for a few months. I finally had a 'light bulb'
moment late last night when someone asked me why I started writing. I thought
about the question all of ten seconds. I’m an insomniac. It’s a very lonely
world at four a.m. when everyone else in your family—dogs included—is asleep. I
started writing to have something to do during the hours when I should’ve been
dreaming. A person can only watch so much television. In addition, after a
million or more games of computer Solitaire, the brain officially begins to rot.
I’m pretty sure I read that in a science periodical somewhere. I needed a new
and improved way to pass the time. I decided to write a book.
And so it began…
For the first time in years I was happy to send Hubby and
the kids off to bed. I looked forward to writing. The wee hours aren’t so
lonely when you have your favorite characters to keep you company. When the
house is quiet except for the purr of a few appliance motors unwilling to go
silent, I grab my cup of tea, and head to the computer to visit with a few of
my fictional friends. Every night I lead them through the muddled mess of their
tortured lives as they battle the bad guys, and struggle against the odds. Fortunately,
in Happily-Ever-After-Land, I get to witness the good characters persevere, and
ultimately win their battles. They find the comfort, joys and love only I can
give them…
At End Of The Day
